GPCC contributes to implementation of new WHO framework for People-centred integrated health services

WHO adopted the ”Framework for people-centred integrated health services” during the 2016 World Health Assembly in Geneva. The framework contains a global strategy for 2016-2026.

GPCC has been invited by WHO to collaborate as a partner and has already contributed resources to the peer reviewed web platform IntegratedCare4People , which has been created to support the implementation of the strategy globally. WHO is particularly interested in GPCCs research on the effects of person-centred care, and knowledge and experience of implementation of person-centred care in a variety of health and elderly care and rehabilitation settings.

- Our goal when GPCC was formed in 2010 was to become European leaders in this research area. We are currently co-ordinating an EU-financed network consisiting of 19 European countries as well as the USA and countries in Africa, but this WHO collaboration can help us reach even further beyond Europe, says GPCC Centre Director Inger Ekman.

IntegratedCare4People brings together knowledge, information and a global network of people and organizations working towards the goal of integrated people-centred health services for all. Information provided on the web platform is organized in a repository of resources, communities of practice and a practices database where technical insights and the operational know-how of health service delivery transformations are shared. The web platform for IntegratedCare4People is a collaborative peer reviewed platform and organisations world-wide are welcome to share relevant resources and practices and to participate in the on-line communities of practice.
